God’s promised process is continually upon us. Sometimes, like now, it is more apparent to us than at other times. Autumn leaves, cooler air, rain, and harvest time remind us that God does indeed keep His promises:
“As long as the earth endures,
seedtime and harvest,
cold and heat,
summer and winter,
day and night
will never cease.” (Gen 8:22)
God’s promise to Noah, the changing of seasons, was and is a blessing for all mankind for as long as this earth endures. However, we, God’s covenant children in His purpose, we find a special blessing in the changing of seasons, a blessing that helps us face the difficult and challenging times of life.
We can face the difficult and challenging times in our lives just like Daniel of old did, by faith in God. Since Daniel endured and recorded the trials of being a captive in ancient Babylon, his words have reminded God’s people that in all seasons and times, regardless of world powers and rulers, God is, in fact, working to glorify Himself and bless His people:
“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;
wisdom and power are his.
21 He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning (Dan 2:20-21).
Whatever season of life you are currently facing, whether it is a trial, challenge, struggle, or even an opportunity, do not forget to notice the changing of seasons we can now see and feel around us and remember that God has power to keep His promises. As covenant children of God, we can view the changing of the seasons and be reminded that the power God has to change the seasons is also the power He has to keep all of His promises to us in Christ Jesus, and He grants us the wisdom and discernment to live accordingly.
