“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” (Matt 11:28-30 NIV).

These words of our Savior are not merely the truth about Him; they are a powerfully motivating force for anyone with a weary heart who will hear their message: Christ Jesus is the Son of God, and He is the life giver to all who come to God through Him (Jn 6:44-45; 14:6). They also inspired an old song we sang, again recently, written by William F. Lakey and V.B. Ellis – Do You Know My Jesus?

Have you a heart that’s weary, tending a load of care;

Are you a soul that’s seeking rest from the burden you bear?

Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend?

            Have you heard, He loves you, and that He will abide till the end?

Where is your heart, O pilgrim, what does your light reveal;

Who hears your call for comfort, when naught but sorrow you feel?

Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend?

            Have you heard, He loves you, and that He will abide till the end?

Who knows your disappointments, Who hears each time you cry;

Who understand your heartaches, Who dries the tears from your eyes?

            Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend?

            Have you heard, He loves you, and that He will abide till the end?

In John 10:10, Jesus says He has come that we may have life and have it to the full. He does give eternal life (Rom 6:23), but He also makes life with all of its trials worth living! Remember to come to Him, each day!
