This world and our lives can get really overwhelming. Christ knows full well the power of the temptations in this life. Because He suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted (Heb 2:18). Actually, He was tempted in every way, just as we are yet was without sin (Heb 4:15). This is why Jesus was able to say plainly to His apostles: “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). The reason Christ appeared was to destroy the work of the devil (1 Jn 3:8).

These things are all true: Jesus came, suffered, was tempted, overcame, and He did it all for our benefit. However, if we want the blessing He came, overcame, and died to give us we will have to obey Him and remain faithful to Him. Remaining faithful to Him requires willing effort on our part. We must be willing for our minds and hearts to be directed/lead by Him and His Spirit (Rom 8:5-6), and one of the biggest ways that happens is when we come together, as His body: praying to, singing to, and communing with God the Father, through Christ.

We can NEVER find a replacement for what God has commanded us. So, as far as we can manage it physically, we must dedicate ourselves to the cooperate worship assembly of the saints, and each Lord’s day, Lord willing that we are physically able.

22 . . . let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—. . . (Heb 10:22-25).

May God our Father bless your willing worship of Him, through His Son Christ Jesus, this and every Lord’s Day!
