Homecoming is such an interesting idea. It is a big deal in West Texas. We schedule our school homecoming events in the early fall, and they serve as sort of a seed for all our fall/winter holidays season. Most of our fall/winter holidays also tend to serve as a homecoming for family members who have been or moved away. Long before our communities had any notion of a homecoming, our Lord used a parable to teach people about a spiritual homecoming (Luke 15:11–31).
