Our love & sympathy to Danna Dunagin in the passing of her step- father, Tommy Scott. Graveside services was at Rose Hill.
This world is a dark place: For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms (Eph 6:12 NIV).
If it were not for the love of the Father in sending His own Son, we would have no light to guide us through the darkness and into His marvelous light (Jn 3:16; Col 1:13). The Bible tells us: Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it (Jn 1:3-5).
So, God in Christ Jesus, created the world, and in this world He has created in Christ Jesus a people who do everything without complaining or arguing, people that are blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation in which they shine like stars in the universe as they hold out the word of life, to their children (Php 2:14-16). That’s right! God created in Christ Jesus not just the world (Col 1:15) and Christians (2 Cor 5:17), but He also created Christian mothers.
Those of us who have had a Christian mother, or watched one, know well what a beam of light that Christian mothers are into this dark world and into our lives. The darkness of this world has not appreciated, understood, nor overcome the light that Jesus Christ shines into it through Christian mothers.
This week as we remember our mothers, let us remember the light that God has shown into our lives by their godly influence, and praise the Lord for it.
