Christ Loves Us Anyway
October 15, 2009
Some things are just special! Special activities, special times together, special gatherings, things and times that just leave you feeling good and with good memories. Being with God is that way too, there is something special about it that can’t be found anyplace else. Someone said, “a friend is someone that knows all of your faults and likes you anyway”. That describes God doesn’t it? There is an old hymn which says, “There’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus, no not one, no not one. There’s not an hour that He is not near us, no not one, no not one. Jesus knows all about our struggles; He will
guide till the day is done; there’s not a friend like the lowly Jesus, no not one! No not one!”
Isn’t that what we are looking for, a place that we can go with someone who will be our friend no matter what? Aren’t we looking for someone that knows all about us and likes us anyway? Jesus is that friend that can help us over the tough spots and sometimes help us find our way, because He has seen our struggle from the very beginning.
One of the many scriptures that gives us some insight into how much God cares for us is Romans 5:7-8, notice what it tells us about how much God loves us and cherishes us. The apostle Paul writes: “In human experience it is a rare thing for one man to give his life for another, even if the latter be a good man, though there have been a few who have had the courage to do it. Yet the proof of God’s amazing love is this: that it was while we were sinners that Christ died for us.”
You see, God knows all of our faults and shortcomings and loves us anyway. That is what being our God and our friend is all about. Paul understood just how special it was to go home with the Lord. My prayer is that if you haven’t already, you will come to understand the depth of God’s love for you and long to go and be with Him.
God bless you all and have a great week!
Michael
