Some of David’s last words admonishing and encouraging his son Solomon before he becomes king.
1 Chron 28:9
“And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the Lord searches every heart and understands every desire and every thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.”
God keeps His promise to Israel. Even when His people have been unfaithful and are being punished, God’s promise to them declares He’s faithfulness. God is faithful. If you seek, you find.
Jer 29: 12-13
12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Jesus declares His kingdom, His church, and salvation available to those who will seek His reign. Seek and you will find.
7 “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”
Christians worship God! Rev 22:9. It’s just what we do. Our being together on the Lord’s Day reminds us that we belong to God’s family, and it shapes our thinking for the rest of our lives. Our faith connects us to Christ, and we must do what we can to strengthen it, lest we be cut off from the Root, who is God.
“You do not support the root, but the root supports you.”
