We are in pursuit of many things in this life, even spiritual things. We pursue righteousness as our path in life, and so, we pursue repentance (real change of heart and mind) that can free us from the sins that now tempt us. We also pursue the forgiveness of sins so that we can find peace from the sins of our past. However, in our pursuit of these things we can forget to listen for Him who knocks at the door, which only we can open (Revelation 3:20).

Jesus came to seek and save the lost, to be sure (Luke 19:10), and God called us to this salvation through belief in the sanctifying truth of the gospel (2 Thessalonians 2:13-14). However, we need to remember what Jesus told the church in Laodicea: Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me (Revelation 3:20 NIV).

Jesus wants you to open the door and let Him in to fellowship with you. If you will open the door, He will come in and give you the righteousness, repentance, and forgiveness that you so desperately desire. The decision is yours. Will you open or ignore?
