Why doesn’t God do something? Why doesn’t He put an end to worry, anxiety, and all the people, circumstances, and things and people that cause them? Is God unconcerned, unwilling, or just lacking in power to fix the things we worry about? Do you hear these questions or ones similar? Do you find yourself asking them, too? What answer are we to give people in their troubles? What answer are we to give ourselves in the midst of difficult and perplexing times? Is there any sure and certain word from God to help us?

Let me explain it this way; it is the gospel of Jesus Christ that brings us encouragement from being united with Christ, comfort from His love, fellowship with the Spirit, and tenderness and compassion toward others (Philippians 2:1-2). The more we hear the gospel, the more we can believe the gospel (Rom 1:16) and live the gospel (Ephesians 4:1; Philippians 1:27; 2 Thessalonians 2:14), so that other people can see the gospel in us! God is the God of all comfort, and He comforts His people so that they can comfort others with the comfort they have received from God (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).

When we live in the encouragement, comfort, fellowship, tenderness, and compassion of Christ, we are able to defeat the selfish ambition and vain conceit in our lives that causes us to look only to our own interest (Philippians 2:3, 4). This enables us to share what God has given us in Christ with others. Consequently, we are able to follow Paul’s example and share, not only the gospel message with others but also our lives, as well (1 Thessalonians 2:8). I pray God helps us to believe and obey His gospel, this week, that we may share the gospel message and our transformed lives with those seeking simple, clear, and practical answers to their sincere questions about trouble in this life!
