Consider Carefully How You Listen

We may hear Jesus say these words and fall prey to the idea that there is some deep mystical way we are supposed to decipher the word of Christ that yields faith to the hearer (Rom 10:17). We also may have in mind that considering carefully how you listen means to precisely and accurately define or exhaust every possible translation, meaning, and application of any given text.
I submit to you that consider carefully how you listen, take care how you hear, take care how you listen, or take heed how ye (specific sing) hear carries the idea that the choice is up to the individual to do what he or she can do to capture the message that yields obedient faith in Christ which will save and transform us (Rom 10:17; 1 Tim 2:4; Rom 8:29; 2 Cor 3:18 et al.).
