People sometimes say, “God’s love toward us is unconditional.” If we mean by this that God loves us because He wants to love us and not because we deserve it, then we would agree with what the Bible teaches (John 3:16; Romans 5:8; 1 John 4:10). However, if we mean by unconditional that God’s love and blessing toward us is without the conditions required by faithfulness to Him, then we stand in direct opposition to what the Bible teaches us about God and faith in Him.

All scripture is God breathed and useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.  (2 Timothy 3:16 – 17, NIV)

God has always demanded that His people listen to Him and live their lives in faithfulness to Him. There is no escaping this fact. ( Jeremiah 7:1-33, NIV)

If His people reject His terms of faith, then their practice of religion will become desolate! ( Jeremiah 7:34; Matthew 23:38, NIV)
